What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic treatment is a primary healthcare profession that takes a holistic approach to wellbeing. Although best known for treating back and neck issues, its goal is to improve overall health and the practice can heal a wide range of joint, ligament, tendon and nerve problems.

It is a regulated practice that uses a combination of gentle spinal adjustments, soft tissue therapies and tailored exercise plans to align your spine and improve nervous system function. Rather than simply treating symptoms, the practice aims to support your body’s natural ability to heal.

Your chiropractor will use visual assessment and a gentle hands-on approach to diagnose problems, paying special attention to the way your body moves.

Every registered chiropractor trains for 4-5 years and undergoes over 1,000 hours of training in chiropractic techniques – resulting in an in-depth knowledge of anatomy and the musculoskeletal system. There is also a strong emphasis on providing practical advice about lifestyle, work and ergonomics to help prevent problems in future.

Do I need a referral?

There’s no need for a referral when visiting an chiropractor at Freedom Care Clinics. However, you may want to let your doctor know so that your medical records are kept up to date.

With your permission, your chiropractor may forward details of your care to your doctor. It’s also possible to request
a letter for
your employer if required.

The only time a referral might be necessary is if you plan to use private medical insurance such as, AXA, AVIVA, WPA, Vitality or BUPA
.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an effective treatment for pain and inflammation caused by a range of conditions. The treatment involves inserting fine needles into the skin to stimulate sensory nerves and muscles in the body. At Freedom Care Clinics we offer standalone acupuncture treatments as well as incorporating it into some of our osteopathy, physiotherapy and chiropractic treatment plans.

Low-level laser therapy

Also known as cold laser or LLLT, low-level laser treatment therapy is used to aid tissue repair, nerve regeneration and bone formation. It’s often used as an alternative to acupuncture and aims to speed up the healing process for fractures and soft tissue injuries.

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT)
