Lymphatouch treatment in Leeds

What is LymphaTouch?

LymphaTouch is a medical device that works as a supplementary tool for manual treatments to improve therapy outcomes. This unique device produces a negative pressure, or vacuum, on the skin to stimulate the lymphatic flow, treat scarring and aid a faster and more efficient treatment for multiple conditions. Controlling the negative pressure allows us to work with your body to help remove excess fluid from the tissues and improve healing and overall health and well-being.

LymphaTouch is often combined with Lymphatic Drainage Treatment at Freedom Care Clinics. It is also regularly used as part of the management of acute injury within our Sports Injury Specialist services.

Why choose us for Lymphatouch?

At Freedom Care Clinics Leeds, we have the latest equipment and training for treating all conditions with LymphaTouch.

How Does LymphaTouch Work?

The Lymphatic system drains and removes excess fluid from the tissues, this is thought as a waste removal system, where your blood system delivers nutrients, the lymphatics remove waste products.

The lymphatics don’t have a natural pump like the blood system, meaning waste can stall and swelling can develop.

To re-start or stimulate lymphatic flow, LymphaTouch gently lifts the skin. This creates a negative pressure under the skin causing the lymphatic vessels to dilate, therefore benefitting the system to take in the excess fluid. More fluid can enter the system which increases the flow and therefore reduces the swelling or excess fluid in the area.

Think of it like the plug in a sink – LymphaTouch simply makes the plug bigger!

How is the treatment performed?

LymphaTouch is a comfortable treatment where the treatment head is placed onto the skin. Once applied, depending on the pressures used for the specific treatment you will feel the skin being lifted into the cup of the treatment head. Depending on the individual case, your practitioner may perform gentle strokes of upward or downward motions. Clothing will be asked to be removed where necessary in order to expose the skin to be applied. Treatment should not be painful and is often a relaxing experience. If you arehaving a scar treatment, you may experience some discomfort caused by pulling the tissues up but this process should not be painful.

How many treatments are necessary?

The number of treatments required varies depending on several factors including, the diagnosis, duration of symptoms and general health of the patient. Generally, for best results of swelling and edema management, patients may need to attend clinic three times per week.

What can be treated with Lymphatouch?

– Scarring and fibrosis – Swelling and Edema – Lymphedema – Pain Management – Soft tissue restriction – Functional Limitations – Sports Injuries – Muscle maintenance – Fascial treatments – Recovery treatments – Skin stiffness – Wellbeing and relaxing – Bruising – Pre & Post surgery swelling – Increases ROM – Rehabilitation from surgery

Old Scarring

Scarring can contribute to reduced range of motion, joint function, cause pain and be visibly displeasing. This can be following either an injury or surgery and come in all shapes and sizes.LymphaTouch can be used to loosen up adhesions, allowing the scars to heal more effectively This is created by providing a light suction, encouraging more blood and lymphatic flow needed in the healing process. By controlling the negative pressure from LymphaTouch in tight restrictive scars, we can gently lift and release the scar tissue that is formed. After a number of treatments (depending on individual cases), we see an improvement in the blood flow, scar movement and appearance.
