Our team of experienced physiotherapists are on hand at both our Leeds and Manchester clinics to treat your injuries and reduce the chances of them reoccurring.
What is physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy, also known as physical therapy or physio, is a holistic form of healthcare treating a range of issues from sports injury, postural pain, and muscle and joint conditions, to neuromuscular, cardiovascular and respiratory problems.
The aim of physiotherapy is to restore normal movement and function in the body through corrective techniques. These techniques help to rehabilitate the function of muscles, joints and soft tissue structures which have been affected by injury, illness or disability. Physiotherapists also offer preventative healthcare and lifestyle advice to keep you from further problems.
What to expect from physiotherapy treatment?
After a full assessment and diagnosis, our experienced physiotherapists will discuss your treatment options with you. If you’re happy with the treatment plan, your physio will use a range of techniques to treat your condition. These include manual therapy, manipulation, mobilisation, electro-physical modalities and acupuncture. Your therapist will also provide you with some rehabilitation exercises to speed up your recovery and prevent the injury occurring again in the future.
Is physiotherapy just for sports injuries?
Not at all. Physiotherapy is helpful in treating a range of acute and chronic pain, whether sport-related or not. An assessment with one of our therapists will determine whether physio is the best treatment for you.
How do I know if physiotherapy is right for me?
Physiotherapy is suited to a wide range of musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and respiratory problems. If you have pain caused by an injury, or pain that has developed over time, physiotherapy could be right for you. If you feel you have general aches and pains and no specific injuries or complaints, then massage therapy may be more suitable.
